This year marks the 38th edition of World Poetry Day. The initiative was conceived and supported, since 1989, by the poet Domenico Simi de Burgis, father of Prof. Saverio Simi de Burgis, who, following his father’s death, chose to continue this annual gathering as a tribute to poetry.

This year’s World Poetry Day is dedicated to the figure of poet and publisher Carlo Marcello Conti and to the theme “Poetry Between Tradition and Experimentation.”

All the poets taking part in the event share a debt of gratitude to Carlo Marcello: over the years, they have published some of their poems with Campanotto Editore, based in Pasian di Prato (UD) and directed by Carlo Marcello. Since the 1980s, the publishing house has distinguished itself for its commitment to promoting poetry, and in particular visual poetry and experimental forms of poetic expression.

The event will be moderated by Luciano Paronetto, poet, curator, and cultural organizer.

Following a tribute to Prof. Saverio Simi de Burgis, who recently passed away, delivered by Prof. Riccardo Caldura, Director of the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia, each artist-poet, beginning with Carlo Marcello Conti, will have approximately 10–15 minutes to briefly introduce their biographical and artistic background and to read some of their poems.
