As part of the Sunday opening of the exhibition “Photography is Fashion”, Lab27 will host a meeting with Emanuela Mirabelli on Sunday, June 22, at 5:00 PM. This will be an opportunity to engage with one of Italy’s most insightful photography readers and professionals, discussing the exhibition that invites reflection on a society that “wears” images, as emphasized by curator Steve Bisson. Emanuela Mirabelli is the photo editor of Marie Claire, where she publishes a wide range of work, from documentary photography to new contemporary photographic languages and fine art portfolios, featuring a variety of authors—from renowned photojournalists and photographers to emerging talents. She writes texts and gives lectures in workshops, masterclasses, conferences, and schools, and teaches a course on photo editing. She is frequently invited to conduct portfolio reviews at numerous Italian and international festivals and serves as a juror for international awards. Born in Milan, she has always been curious about everything expressed through images. After high school, she wrote film reviews for industry magazines and studied art history at university. At the same time, she developed a strong interest in photography, which soon became her profession. She worked in the editorial office of Photo magazine and then as head of the Carla Sozzani Gallery in Milan before becoming the photo editor of Marie Claire.
