As part of the exhibition “You Are an Animal”, Lab27 will host photographer Beatrice Pilotto on Sunday, March 16, at 4:30 PM. We embark on a journey to the Antarctic Peninsula to discover how a commissioned project transformed into an experience that profoundly shaped the perception and consciousness of the Bassano-born photographer.
"The feeling of being in an untouched corner of the world, where nature rules without interference, was one of the strongest I have ever experienced." And yet "Realizing how perfectly Earth’s balance functions without human interference struck me like a spear and never left me." That very work, which had given her the privilege of reaching the remote and pristine shores of the continent, simultaneously highlighted the challenges of integration. Although it took time to come to terms with herself, for Beatrice, it marked the dawn of a new awareness—the beginning of another journey that would not only witness the extraordinary beauty and magical intensity of those places but also fight for their protection.
