Lab27 is hosting a special meeting on March 24 with Antonella Monzoni, photographer and deputy editorial director of the photography culture magazine Gente di Fotografia. Drawing on her rich authorial journey—interwoven with publishing, collective experiences, civic engagement, and personal projects—there will be space to discuss your photographs, intentions, and creative pathways. Free entry, we start at 4:30 PM—see you there!
It will also be the last Sunday to visit the exhibition "Come nessun uomo saprà mai", which brings together three extraordinary photographers: Anne Immelé, Marisol Mendez, and Nausicaa Giulia Bianchi.
Antonella Monzoni lives in Modena. She practices a deeply humanist reportage photography with a distinctive, intimate character aimed at the cultural assimilation of memory. This is evident in Madame (Giacomelli Award 2007 and PhotoEspaña-Descubrimientos Selection 2008), Somewhere in Russia (Chatwin Photography Award 2007), and Silent Beauty (IPA Honorable Mention 2008). In 2009, with Ferita Armena, she received a Special Mention at the Amnesty International Festival of Rights, was a finalist for the Ponchielli Award, and was selected for the international documentary photography festival Visa pour l’Image in Perpignan. Also in 2009, she won the Best Photographer Award at Photovernissage in St. Petersburg, and in 2010 she was named FIAF Author of the Year. Since 2011 she has been part of the Synap(see) Collective. In 2012 she received the first prize at VIPA, Vienna International Photo Award. In 2015 she was awarded the Scanno International Photography Prize by photographers. In 2016 the book Ferita Armena won the Bastianelli Prize for best photography book published in Italy. In 2018 she joined the Donne Fotografe – Italian Women Photographers Association, and in the same year FIAF awarded her the title of Master of Italian Photography (MFI). In 2020 she won the Call for Entry of the Prague Photo Festival. She has created various collective photography projects, including FUTURA, stories of women and Le Anime del Bosco, dedicated to the forest of Monte Pisano damaged by the 2018 fire. She has published several photography books and dummy books, and has exhibited in solo and group shows in Italy and abroad.
