Lab27 will host a meeting with Steve Bisson on Sunday, March 2, at 4:30 PM to explore the different ways photographers and curators can collaborate within artistic and visual production. Portfolio reviews, exhibitions, editorial projects, books and publications, and other creative initiatives are all occasions where productive dialogue can arise—but they also raise many questions. Who should you approach? How do you engage with a curator? What should you expect? And beyond that, what else?
Lab27 offers a free seminar designed as an interactive dialogue with participants, drawing on real stories and professional growth paths that Steve Bisson has developed around the world. It is an opportunity to clarify the role of the curator—a figure still somewhat undefined in Italy—and to learn from examples of best practices and valuable experiences.
Since 2020, Steve Bisson has served as the Artistic Director at Lab27. He is the Chair of Photography at Paris College of Art, where he has taught since 2017 For over 15 years, he has worked as a curator worldwide, contributing to around one hundred events including exhibitions, festivals, and biennials. He is deeply involved in editorial work as the founder of Urbanautica, a platform dedicated to the study of visual anthropology and cultural landscapes, and as editor-in-chief of publisher Penisola Edizioni. He is also coordinator and vice president of Blurring the Lines, a Paris-based nonprofit organization that promotes networking among international visual arts academies and the work of emerging graduates. More information is available on his website.
