exhibition \\u201cPearls of Photographic Publishing from Talbot to Camera Work,\\u201d curated by Dionisio Gavagnin, will open. The exhibition presents a journey through the origins of photographic publishing, from the earliest nineteenth-century experiments to the avant-garde movements of the early twentieth century.<\/span><br \/><br \/><span>On <\/span><b>Sunday, June 7 at 4:30 PM<\/b><span>, Dionisio Gavagnin will present his recent publication \\u201cData and Theaters\\u201d (Campanotto, 2026). The essay explores photography between reality and staging in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Dionisio Gavagnin is a scholar of modern and contemporary art and literature, with a particular focus on poetry. He has published two volumes on the history of photography (\\u201cHomini &amp; Domini,\\u201d 2011; \\u201cFini &amp; Confini,\\u201d 2018) and three poetry collections with Campanotto Editore. He has curated exhibitions for museums, foundations, and galleries, and for Lab27 he co-curated with Steve Bisson the exhibitions \\u201cFrom Atget to Basilico: Archaeology in Seeing\\u201d (2024) and \\u201cAmerica Between Dreams and Disillusionment\\u201d (2025).<\/span><br \/><br \/><span>Without aiming to provide an exhaustive reconstruction of the history of the photobook, the exhibition \\u201cPearls of Photographic Publishing from Talbot to Camera Work\\u201d presents 37 rare original photographs taken from publications that profoundly shaped modern visual culture.<\/span><br \/><span>The project highlights how photography revolutionized the relationship between image and knowledge. After centuries in which visual representation relied on engravings and drawings, the invention of photography in 1839 introduced a new language perceived as direct testimony of reality. The exhibition presents a journey through the origins of photographic publishing, from the earliest nineteenth-century experiments to the avant-garde movements of the early twentieth century.<\/span><br \/><br \/><span>On <\/span><b>Sunday, June 7 at 4:30 PM<\/b><span>, Dionisio Gavagnin will present his recent publication \\u201cData and Theaters\\u201d (Campanotto, 2026). The essay explores photography between reality and staging in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Dionisio Gavagnin is a scholar of modern and contemporary art and literature, with a particular focus on poetry. He has published two volumes on the history of photography (\\u201cHomini &amp; Domini,\\u201d 2011; \\u201cFini &amp; Confini,\\u201d 2018) and three poetry collections with Campanotto Editore. He has curated exhibitions for museums, foundations, and galleries, and for Lab27 he co-curated with Steve Bisson the exhibitions \\u201cFrom Atget to Basilico: Archaeology in Seeing\\u201d (2024) and \\u201cAmerica Between Dreams and Disillusionment\\u201d (2025).<\/span><br \/><br \/><span>Without aiming to provide an exhaustive reconstruction of the history of the photobook, the exhibition \\u201cPearls of Photographic Publishing from Talbot to Camera Work\\u201d presents 37 rare original photographs taken from publications that profoundly shaped modern visual culture.<\/span><br \/><span>The project highlights how photography revolutionized the relationship between image and knowledge. After centuries in which visual representation relied on engravings and drawings, the invention of photography in 1839 introduced a new language perceived as direct testimony of reality.
